SAVE THE DATE!

We are pleased to invite you to attend the first Mat-Rad Workshop, taking place in the beautiful city of Saint-Étienne at the Campus Manufacture, France, February 24th-26th, 2027

The local committee is constituted by people from the MOPERE group of the Laboratoire Hubert Curien of the University Jean Monnet of Saint-Etienne.

We are welcoming both oral and poster presentations of your last research, and we look forward to meeting you in Saint-Étienne. Contributions from young researchers and students are welcome! The participation in the workshop is free of charge.

Best regards,
the mat-rad 2027 Organizing team

Materials for Radiation Environments

Materials used in high radiation environments such as the ones existing in space and produced by nuclear infrastructures, particle accelerators, radioactive waste, medical physics, and irradiation facilities, suffer from radiation-induced effects impacting their structural, mechanical, viscoelastic, and optical properties and eventually compromising their function. To understand and anticipate radiation effects and minimize radiation-induced operation failures, multi-disciplinary and multiscale experimental radiation studies are needed. In its very first edition, this workshop aims at gathering the scientific and industrial community interested in the radiation resistance of materials, commercial or custom components and integrated systems. Radiation test methodologies and approaches will be presented and discussed.

Scientific Program

Main topics:

Radiation effects in materials (polymers, glass, composites...);

Irradiation facilities for high dose irradiation;

Dosimetry: experimental (high doses) and computational activities;

Materials for extreme applications such as space, fission, fusion and high energy physics;

Testing procedures and multi-scale approaches: radiation effects in integrated systems;

Case studies, applications, follow-up studies: materials (to be) used in high radiation areas;

Combined effects of radiation and other stressors such as temperature, atmosphere, etc.

Multiscale modeling and simulation of radiation effects

Thematic Session: the EIC THREAD project

Round Tables:

  • Access to irradiation condition for materials: gamma facilities, and beyond
  • Guidelines for irradiation, characterization and selection of materials for radiation applications: where are we at? how can simulations help?
